RESTAURANT REVIEW: LOUI LOUI

What are you getting out of the bib and plastic glove seafood places these days? Separate from a white tablecloth restaurant where a half piece of lobster can start at $50, seafood boil style restaurants are having a great year.

That includes Loui Loui on Broadway in Harlem.

Harlem is booming with amazing restaurants so I'm really not surprised Loui Loui decided to join the neighborhood back in 2017. Seafood boils are a great way to get quality seafood at desirable prices, plastic gloves and bib included. Normally I head to Koreatown to dine at one of my favorites anytime I'm craving a seafood boil but after my mom and aunt dined at Loui Loui on Saturday and called me raving about how fantastic the food was there, I found myself at Loui Loui 24 hours later.

When you walk in Loui Loui all the tables are covered with brown butchers paper, which is a great sign that you can get messy cracking crabs here. Wall decor and strings of lights hang from the ceiling at this small restaurant and about 6 bar stoles at the bar. Speaking of bar, Loui Loui has their own adult Capri sun cocktails.Yes, you can sip a fab drink in a big capri sun like pouch as you wait for your seafood to arrive.

After getting sat by the hostess we reviewed the menu. Aside from the seafood boils they have other seafood menu options and sides if head on shrimp and crab legs isn’t your thing. On the boil side, all of the seafood is it’s own individual price then you start with picking how many seafood options you would like in your plastic bag. Followed by your desired sauce and heat level.

With every selection there is a bonus “freebie” that comes in your bag. My mom and I chose a pick 4 which came with a free whole lobster.

Here's What We Ordered:

Boiler Combo Pick 4 - Snow Crab Legs | Blue Crabs | Shrimp | Crawfish + A Free Lobster | Louisiana Sauce | Mild

Garlic Noodles

Fish & Chips Basket

Funnel Cake Fried + Vanilla Ice Cream

Madam Berry Adult Capri Sun - Vodka, Strawberries, Cranberry Juice, Prosecco

Our garlic noodles arrived first and in a small paper basket sat piping hot al dente fettuccine noodles covered in this extremely garlicky sauce. The garlic noodles are so good that we ate one and ordered another ! You must order the garlic noodles, there isn't really an option not too.

The seafood arrived next and the bags are suitable for one person but the pick 4 is definitely large enough for 2 people to share. When our server brought our food to the table, he stepped back and lightly shook and tossed our bag of seafood to make sure all of the Louisiana sauce was evenly distributed on the seafood.  This bag was huge and filled with our speckled crabs, snow crab legs, crawfish and more.

As we put on our plastic gloves and began to dig in, the seafood was piping hot and perfectly cooked. The Louisiana sauce is a mild red sauce that was so good, I dipped my garlic noodles in the bottom of my bag to get even more Louisiana sauce. Also inside the bag were pieced of corn and red potatoes but you can actually get your garlic noodles added into your bag if you wish. .

After coming up for air from eating fabulously, simply put Loui Loui seafood boils are fantastic. I enjoyed the seafood so much, which was flavorful, fresh and the perfect amount of everything that we ordered. You will not have to worry about skimpy portions here.

Loui Loui is definitely my new go to seafood boil spot and to top off our evening and your evening make sure to order the funnel cake fries with ice cream.
